Trimester Programme in Thailand

Experience a semester studying English program in Thailand, discovering different cultures, languages, and lifestyles. Study in English with either Thai or foreign teachers, learning the unique Thai language and culture. Besides living with a host family and experiencing the Thai language and culture classes, the participant will be attending 4-7 subjects taught in English during Mon-Fri. The school offers various programs depending on the participant's level of English proficiency and the availability of the school.

Stay with a Host Family

You may be placed in a regional capital or small town in any region of Thailand, from the northern teak forests, to the central farming plains, or the southern tropical beaches. Many families include several generations living together, and visiting relatives in different parts of the country is common. Families also enjoy spending weekends together at home, where you will experience how Thai families are bound by tradition with a long history.

Participant Eligibility

A participant’s date of birth must be between 11 Aug 2007 to 11 Jul 2010

Participant Age Range Upon Arrival: 15 years 0 month to 17 years 11 months

English B1 is the minimum requirement.

No specific level of Thai is required upon arrival.

Study at a Thai High School

Participants will study 4-7 subjects taught in English Mon-Fri. The school offers various programmes depending on the participant’s level of English, and the availability of the school.

The courses offered (depending on each school): Mathematics, Computer, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Speaking-Listening, English Reading-Writing, French, Chinese, Japanese, etc.

School mostly starts around 7:30 with school assembly, where teachers and students sing the national anthem (raising the flag), pray and listen to school announcements. Your timetable will include 7-8 periods per day, 50 minutes each. Students have to walk from class to class following their timetable. You may have some free hours for self-study; Thais will spend this free hour in the library for working on their assignments. The school is likely to be finished at 15:30 or 16:00.

Please note that as an exchange student you cannot graduate or get a diploma from a Thai school. However, you can get a transcript and a certificate of attendance at the end of your stay. Please understand that you need to participate in 80% of all classes and respect school rules in order to get a transcript.
