Teaching children, getting to know people from different backgrounds and share your culture in the capital city of the Dominican Republic

This educational center provides education and training to children from dysfunctional families in extreme poverty and high-risk situations.
It is an educational institution that promotes and encourages quality education. Their mission is to be a home that welcomes, a school that educates and a church that evangelizes. They want to supply children and teens from extreme poverty with a complete education so that they can become good and honest adults.
The different services they offer are a residential area for homeless kids, primary school, high school, technical school, after-school activities (sports, music, etc.) and religious activities.

Depending on what type of work you are interested in, you can work in the orphanage with young children, teach in the primary school, assist in the sports programs, music programs, etc.
There is always a lot to do in the institution and you should be able to do various tasks that the staff asks for, but also propose your own initiatives.

Also, you will work with direct supervision from a staff member; this person will be directing, guiding and reviewing all work regularly.

Furthermore you will take part in an arrival orientation, a mid-stay orientation and an end of stay camp. In these camps, important subjects will be discussed, such as the participant’s relationship with the host family, project and cultural difficulties they might be experiencing.
