Make a difference in a child’s life by working at a local school that promotes equality, respect, and peace.

You will be working at a school in Santiago or Saint Cristobal, a small city outside of Santo Domingo. You’ll help teachers in the areas of language and arts & crafts, while also providing basic care for children.

The community association’s goal is to educate, develop, and encourage solidarity between people. They would like to create a community that strives to overcome prejudice, racism, and discrimination.   The association believes that every country, every culture, and every person deserves honor and respect, and to live in a just and peaceful world.  As a result, the association built community schools that offer education to children between 2 and 9 years of age.   All schools have a commitment to basic human rights, especially for immigrants and migrant worker families.

You will be guided and supported by the school staff while taking part in orientations upon arrival, during mid-stay, and at the end of your stay.  During these orientations, you’ll learn about the importance of relationship-building with your host family and local community.  The program also welcomes new ideas and suggestions by the international volunteers.
