Do you want to volunteer for a year?  Work with an NGO that builds houses for vulnerable families and empowers communities towards entrepreneurship.

In 1997 a group of youth began working towards the common goal of overcoming the poverty in which millions of people lived. They believed that the best way they could achieve their vision was to build emergency houses for families who were living in unacceptable conditions.

This initiative became a huge success and today can be found in several countries across the continent.  Beginning in Chile, it soon spread to El Salvador and Peru.  Today, it can be found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The office of the organisation is located in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. There are a lot of different projects you can join, so your task will vary depending on the project they are currently working on and in what area of the office you will be working.

You will be guided and supported by staff while taking part in orientations upon arrival, during mid-stay, and at the end of your stay.  During these orientations, you’ll learn about the importance of relationship-building with your host family and local community.
