Program Overview

Join a vast network of specialized doctors and dedicated medical staff on disaster management and disaster relief efforts in the rural area of South Sulawesi. Run by the Faculty of Medicine at Hasanuddin University, this program allows you the opportunity to directly contribute to the local people’s health and well-being, and to undergo an insightful learning experience on global health.

This program offers you a chance to promote and provide access to healthcare to an underserved community in a unique culture. As a volunteer, you will be providing basic medical screenings, as well as raising the public awareness on the importance of good health and hygiene through trainings and workshops.

Project Details

Before your volunteering period starts, we will first equip you with on-arrival orientation on your upcoming intercultural experience. We want to ensure you are utterly ready for your volunteering journey in Indonesia. So let’s get started!

To start off, our team will inform you about the detailed information and comprehension on the program(s) you are going to experience. Some of the materials covered are as the following: Introduction of Organizations, Managing Hopes and Expectations, Intercultural Learning (ICL) Workshop for Volunteer, Children and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy, The Basics of Bahasa Indonesia, etc. Through these orientation and workshops, we hope to help you to have more impact to the local community and help you in preparing your volunteering journey in Indonesia.

With a small population of 500, you will have an unforgettable joining and becoming an honorary member of such a tight-knit community. This allows you to learn the local culture straight from the source, and experience it in your daily lives through traditions that they do.

You will be living in a host family accommodation with the safety and support of local volunteers. Our volunteers and/or your host family are happy to help you to become active in the local community – e.g. by engaging in local cultural immersion or other leisure time activities. Furthermore, it gives you the opportunity to integrate into Indonesian culture gives you the chance to experience Indonesian traditions.
